Intent

At Pear Tree, Physical Education is a key part of a broad and balanced curriculum. Using PE Passport and support from specialist sports coaches, we deliver a progressive and inclusive PE curriculum that aims to develop pupils’ physical competence, confidence and overall enjoyment of physical activity.

Our PE curriculum is designed and sequenced to build both the knowledge and skills. We provide consistent teaching and effective tracking of pupil progress, ensuring all learners are both supported and challenged in line with their individual needs.

At Pear Tree, we have a wider curriculum offer, which includes the opportunities for pupils to participate in extra-curricular sports and activity clubs, as well as competitions for all abilities. Working closely with Crewe and Nantwich School Sports Partnership allows our pupils to have access to opportunities to further develop and apply the skills and knowledge taught. Alongside this, we provide daily physical activity across the school day including active lessons, active break and lunchtimes and our extra-curricular activities.

Physical Education at Pear Tree aims to develop not only physical skills, but also key values such as teamwork, resilience and respect. By the end of their learning journey at Pear Tree, pupils will have the confidence, competence and motivation to lead healthy, active lifestyles.
