Red Class Newsletter Summer Term 2025
Dear Parents,
Welcome back, we hope you have all had a great Easter. This newsletter is intended to give you a quick overview of what’s happening this term. We will give you a weekly update via an email. Please make sure you read this information carefully every week, as we will include important timetable changes and events. If there are any important changes to the weekly schedule we will inform you with a text too.
Our learning this term –
This term we will have 2 topics. A tiny sea and under the sea?
We will be looking at lots of fabulous books written by a range of authors, fiction and non-fiction. We will have an exciting new role-play this term which is a pirate ship. We hope the children like it as much as we do!
Our first topic is all about growing plants and we will be reading, The tiny seed, Ten seeds, Jack and the beanstalk, plant facts and more. We will be learning about what a plant needs to grow, the parts of the plant and much more. The children will be growing their own sunflowers and dwarf beans.
We will then be moving on to under the sea and reading books such as, the rainbow fish, Ocean commotion, Tiddler, snail and the whale, meet the oceans, Jake’s first day and more. We will take a trip to the Blue Planet Aquarium and see lots of sea creatures.
To find out more, please see our medium term plan which is on the website.
Mystery Reader –This has always proven to be very popular with our parents/grandparents in previous years. I will put a piece of paper with dates available on the classroom door which you can sign up to. This will be on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s at 2:45pm. You choose a book that you know your child likes and bring it in to read.
What is a mystery reader? You have to sign up secretly and do not let your child know. You come to the office at 2:40pm and we take you down to class. Then the children open their eyes and SURPRISE! You read the story to the children and the children ask you 5 questions about the story at the end. The children LOVE it and most parents/grandparents do too. We had a grandparent sign up at least 4 times last year!
P.E. – P.E will be every Friday.
On a Friday your child should come in their P.E clothes, we will be dancing this half term.
Reading / Little Wandles – This was really successful last term. So many of you are reading with your child most nights. Don’t worry about what you have to write in the diary, just write ‘read’ if needs be, just so they can get a sticker.
Please continue to practise sounds and tricky words too.
Thank you for your continued support.
