Red Class 2026 - 2027

Red Class

A very warm welcome to Pear Tree Primary School. We hope that you have all had a wonderful summer and are ready to start your child's primary school adventure. 

The first three weeks in school are focussed on getting to know the children, settling into new routines and becoming familiar with our environment. During this time the Reception team will do some baseline assessments to see what the children already know, this will help us to plan for the teaching that will follow. 

Staff

The staff in Red Class are Mrs Swallow, Mrs Kay, Mrs Cliff and Miss Shepherd.  

PE

PE is on a Thursday. On Thursdays, children will need to come to school in their PE kit.

Outdoor Learning

Outdoor learning is on a Tuesday. Children will need to come to school in their own clothes (suitable for the weather) Outdoor learning can be messy so please come in appropriate clothing. 

Water

Children will need to bring a water bottle to school every day.

Snacks

We have snack time every morning. Please put snacks in small containers and ensure they are named. Snacks could include: a piece of fruit, vegetable sticks, cheese and crackers. We are a NUT FREE SCHOOL so please no nuts or sweets.  Alternatively, the children can buy toast at snack time. It is 25p per piece of toast. If purchasing toast, please send in 25p in a named purse - the correct change is greatly appreciated.  We provide fruit and milk in the afternoon as part of the Health Schools Programme.

Wellies and Waterproofs

Children will need wellies and waterproofs in school at all times. Children have access to the outdoors throughout the day and therefore wellies and waterproofs are essential.

Reading and Phonics

We encourage the children to read 5 times a week at home. If they read five times in a week then they will get a special sticker on a book mark. We follow the Little Wandle Scheme for phonics and will be holding an information evening on 15th September at 5pm. We will hear children read at least three times per week in school.  Redaing books will be sent home in week three. Reading books are changed every Wednesday. Children will also bring home a book from our school library too this will also be changed on Wednesdays. The Little Wandle website has lots of useful tips and hints for parents and carers.
