Intent

At Pear Tree, Music is a much-valued part of our curriculum. We aim to inspire a love of music, whilst developing pupils' confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.

Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to build both the knowledge and skills needed to embody creativity when composing and appraising music. Pupils are able to experience a wide range of musical styles and cultures, helping them to develop an understanding and appreciation of music in the wider world.

We ensure that all pupils can participate, perform and succeed through inclusive teaching and progressive learning. Music also supports the development of wider skills such as listening, teamwork and self-expression. We are proud of the opportunities given to our pupils to allow them to engage and perform in music outside of the classroom and within our community.

When pupils leave Pear Tree, they will have developed the confidence, knowledge and skills to engage with music both independently and as part of a group, fostering a lifelong appreciation of music.
