Intent

At Pear Tree, we believe that art, craft, and design provide powerful ways to engage, inspire, and challenge pupils. By exposing them to a wide range of techniques, materials, and the work of artists, craftspeople, and designers, we broaden their creative experiences. Our ambitious, flexible, and aspirational Art and Design curriculum equips pupils with the knowledge and skills to experiment, explore, take risks, and create, enabling every child to flourish and achieve their full artistic potential.

Through this approach, all pupils are encouraged to express themselves creatively, develop an appreciation for the diversity of the art world, and grow into well-rounded individuals. They gain not only practical artistic skills but also an understanding of creativity, diversity, and the transformative role art plays in shaping a vibrant and culturally rich society. This foundation also helps prepare them for potential future careers in Art and Design, including roles such as designers, craftspeople, graphic designers, illustrators, curators, and architects.
