Red Class Newsletter 17.05.19

Date: 17th May 2019 @ 9:31am

Dear Parents,

This week we have been noticing the changes in our chicks and caterpillars.  Our chicks have grown quickly and have developed feathers on their wings and tails.  Our caterpillars have now changed into cocoons and are hanging in our nets, ready for their next part of their cycle – butterflies!

We have been writing about our caterpillars and how they have changed, making our own life cycle of a caterpillar for our books, counting in 2s and 5s and using money too.  The children made a cocoon out of Modroc and caterpillars out of pipe cleaners.

Next week, we will be drawing self portraits and writing our personal comments for our reports, searching for bugs and building mini dens for them in forest school, having our last cricket session of the term by playing a game, going to The Blue Planet Aquarium, writing about this, re-capping 2d,3d shapes and money and more…..

Forest school on Monday – please dress your child appropriately for the weather and for being in the forest area.  Best clothing is leggings/shorts, t-shirts and trainers please.  If it’s hot then please send sun hat and apply sun cream before school.

P.E on Tuesday – I personally think it is easier to just send them in their PE kit and they stay in it all day from now on, now that the weather is better.  1. It saves time in class for more learning to be had and 2. It saves on extra washing for you at home.  Hope this is ok with you all.

We will also be having a dance session on Thursday to prepare for our summer performance – please send children in P.E kits on this day too.

The Blue Planet – children need to wear school uniform please.  We will not be needing book bags this day.  But could you please send in named water bottles and a named snack.  If you are sending a packed lunch, these need to be in a disposable carrier bag with name on.  We should be arriving back by the end of the school day, if not we will text you.

Finally – the children will be enjoying an ice-cream treat off Mr Tom this afternoon in school with their buddies to celebrate the end of SATS.  This will be a surprise when he turns up at 2:30pm.  I hope I make it back from Yellow class swimming in time to enjoy one with them too!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Newman and Red Team
