Roll on Spring!
As the sun has shone brightly over the past four days the whole school has been enjoying break times out on the field and River Family walks looking for signs of spring. Can we please stress the need for jumpers and cardigans in particular to be named as with over 220 in school now we simply can’t locate and return unnamed items.
Barnaby Bear and Popera.
We were extremely disappointed for the children to be informed last week by Love Music Trust that these two events involving Orange and Green classes have been cancelled due to a dispute between the trust and the venue. The children had put a lot of time into it and we know that a number of parents had purchased tickets. By chance Brine Leas has offered to host the Green Class Popera and on reflection, as the children can easily walk there and they have worked so hard on their contribution, we will be taking the children on Tuesday March 28th. Sadly there is no capacity to accommodate parents but we would still like the children to perform and showcase their musical talents. They will be in an end of summer term celebration of Popera and Barnaby Bear at Pear Tree for parents to attend.
Our talented Year 3 and 4 children are doing wonderful work with Mrs Swan on a Monday evening developing their singing skills but we would love to see more take part in what is a great club which runs every Monday from 3.15 to 4.15p.m. This year as well as Young Voices we are looking for other opportunities for the choir to perform in public and have applied this week to go in the draw to perform at The Cheshire Show in June. If your child is in Key Stage 2 and would like to join choir then please call into the school office and let Mrs Nixon know so she can add them to Mrs Swan’s register.
Family Learning Event
Our Stay and Learn Mornings are nearly here and there are still spaces for parents to come and join us. Even if you can only stay for part of the morning, you are most welcome! They promise to be hands-on mornings and it would be great to have as many parents along as we can to let your children show you what learning for them is like. Monday March 27th is KS2 open morning and Wednesday March 29th Reception and Key Stage One. Just complete the forms that are in the school reception area or speak directly to Mrs Nixon to book a place.
Head Lice love Long Hair!
Please can all children with hair that will tie back ensure it is? Head Lice love long hair and we are struggling again to reduce the infestations that regularly do the rounds in all classes.
National Funding Formula Consultation
The Fairer Funding Consultation is still open until March the 22nd. I urge every family to take the time to complete this document. Your voice really can make a difference this time and it is the number of responses that matters. The campaign is growing and Cheshire East is now not the only authority very vocally speaking out about the potentially catastrophic impact the proposed funding cuts could have on our children’s future education. The link below will take you to the online survey. Please copy and paste into address browser:
